The AIT lab for optical metrology and inspection systems

In the Machine Vision Lab (MVL), the AIT Center for Vision, Automation & Control (VAC) presents its latest high-performance technologies for non-contact quality inspection of products. VAC's mission is to drive automation and digitalization in industry and increase the flexibility, adaptability and resilience of companies. This includes improving energy and resource efficiency while reducing production costs. A key focus is on reducing the workload on human resources through supportive and user-friendly systems.

The prototypes of high-performance inspection systems introduced here are designed for optical in-line quality inspection and measurement of both static and moving objects. They stand out for their high inspection speed and resolution, enabling reliable inspections of complex and challenging object structures and surfaces. In addition, they are designed to control production processes in such a way that defects are detected at an early stage, thereby minimizing waste.

The various systems demonstrate VAC's many years of broad expertise in 2D and 3D image processing, as well as in the application and development of AI-based methods for analyzing (image) data and optimizing process control and automation. These technologies have been successfully implemented in both industrial and medical fields, on a national and international scale, earning multiple awards.
